It was a fairly newsy day in college basketball on several different fronts.
Arkansas' Meleek Thomas announced he is remaining in the NBA Draft, an expected decision after he didn't make his intentions clear prior to yesterday's midnight deadline. Thomas averaged 15.6 points, 3.8 rebounds, and 2.5 assists as a freshman while shooting 41.6% from three. He joins his backcourt running mate, Darius Acuff Jr., in this year's draft class.

The Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) is rebranding to the Metro Conference. The change, effective July 1, alleviates confusion between the league and the Mid-American Conference (MAC).

If the Metro Conference sounds familiar, it's because there used to be a league with the same name in the 70s and 80s. The former Metro featured teams like Cincinnati, Georgia Tech, Louisville, Memphis, Saint Louis, and Tulane. Southern Miss, VCU, and Virginia Tech were also members at different points during the league's brief history.
The MAC made sure to lay claim to being the one true MAC.
Scheduling news is ramping up!
The ACC released its matchups for the 18-game league schedule.

NC State, Seton Hall, and Wisconsin will play in the Baha Mar Hoops Bahamas Championship, according to Jon Rothstein. The fourth team is still to be determined.
Purdue is the first team to release their full non-conference schedule. The Boilermakers will play a tough slate that includes games against Gonzaga, Iowa State, Tennessee, DePaul, and Oklahoma. They'll also travel to UConn for an exhibition on October 27.
Florida will play Miami, and Florida State will play Florida A&M in a doubleheader in Tampa on opening night, according to a report from Jeff Goodman.
Saint Louis shared a pair of home-and-home announcements against DePaul and High Point.
A pair of coaches received contract extensions yesterday.
UCF head coach Johnny Dawkins earned a three-year extension that will keep him in Orlando through the 2028-2029 season, according to a release. Dawkins led the Knights to the NCAA Tournament last season, marking only the second at-large bid in school history.
Bowling Green head coach Todd Simon signed a new extension that runs through 2030, according to a release. Simon has won 52 games since arriving at BGSU, the most by any Falcons coach in their first three seasons at the school.
