A pair of 5-star recruits came off the board on Wednesday.
Duke added its third player of the 2027 class with a commitment from Asa Montgomery. The 6'7" wing chose Duke over LSU, UConn, Georgia Tech, and North Carolina.
At Peach Jam this summer, Montgomery averaged 24.1 points, 7.0 rebounds and 2.6 assists per game while shooting 50% from the field. He also won a gold medal with USA Basketball at the 2026 FIBA U17 World Cup, averaging 9.7 points, 4.4 rebounds, 2.1 assists and 1.3 steals per game.
Montgomery joins Australian point guard Luke Paul and forward Kager Knueppel in another stacked recruiting haul for the Blue Devils.
Bryan Hodgson made his first big splash on the recruiting trail, earning a commitment from the No. 1 center in the class, Lewis Uvwo. Uvwo picked the Friars over a final list that included Baylor, Cal and Kentucky.
The 6'11" Uvwo is widely considered the best shot-blocker in the class. He averaged 6 blocks per game at Peach Jam this summer and was named 17U EYBL Defensive Player of the Year.
Uvwo is the first commitment of the 2027 class for the Friars and the highest-rated recruit for the program in the last 20 years.
In exhibition action, Kentucky survived a scare from UCF, needing overtime to outlast the Knights.
Malachi Moreno stuffed the box score with 16 points, 14 rebounds and 8 assists. Milan Momcilovic added 19 points and 6 rebounds, while Mason Williams gave the Wildcats 18 points off the bench. Dior Johnson led UCF with 22 points.
Arkansas looked every bit the most athletic team in the country, outpacing Memphis 93-81.
Billy Richmond and Jordan Smith Jr. led the Razorbacks with 17 points each. Miikaa Murinnen notched a double-double with 10 points and 12 rebounds. Luke Almodovar and Nemanja Popovic each had 16 points for the Tigers.
More exhibition scores: Purdue Fort Wayne 78 - Ball State 70 | Clemson 84 - Presbyterian 70 | Houston Christian 101 - Southern Miss 72 | Louisville 71 - Mercyhurst 39 | Mount Saint Mary’s 66, - Navy 59 | SIUE 53 - Bradley 48 | Illinois 101 - UIC 66
