Michigan State President Kevin Guskiewicz is reversing course and staying with the school, per a release from the school.

Guskiewicz was recently announced as the next President at Clemson, but notified university officials yesterday that he intends to return to East Lansing. Clemson will reopen their national search for a new President.

Spartans head coach Tom Izzo released a statement in support of Guskiewicz's decision. Izzo was previously very outspoken about the current state of the school's leadership and recently called Guskiewicz "the best president who might've ever been here before."

Despite Guskiewicz's change of heart, outgoing athletic director J Batt reaffirmed his commitment to the University of Kentucky yesterday. In an interesting wrinkle, Kentucky is now on the hook for a $5 million buyout instead of $2.5 million because of a clause in Batt's contract regarding Guskiewicz's employment at the school.
