In our Champions Rewind series, we'll look at the seasons of past National Champions, breaking down both their offensive and defensive systems.
This week, we'll look at the 2012-2013 Louisville Cardinals, who won the championship before having to vacate it 5 years later.
To address the elephant in the room, yes, Louisville did get its 2013 National Championship vacated. There is speculation that Louisville is trying to get it reinstated, given how the Michigan Football sign-stealing scandal was handled. For the sake of this series, this will be the last mention of the title being vacated.
After a loss to Kentucky, the eventual champs, in the Final Four in 2012, Louisville came into the next season with high expectations. The only big contributor Louisville lost in the offseason was Kyle Kuric, but the Cardinals returned their next 5 leading scorers from the 2012 roster while adding top 100 freshman, Montrezl Harrell.
