College basketball is back...sort of.

A pair of exhibition games were played at Capital One Stadium in Charleston yesterday, with Vanderbilt beating Virginia and College of Charleston beating The Citadel.

In the first game, the shadows overshadowed everything else. The camera struggled to adjust to the lighting with each trip down the floor, but we got some great visuals, like both coaches rocking sunglasses on the sidelines.

Virginia's bench spent the entire afternoon in the sun, while Vanderbilt enjoyed the shade on its way to an 82-73 win.

Chance Mallory didn't play for the Cavaliers because of a lower-body injury that is not expected to keep him out long. For Vanderbilt, Tyler Tanner played only the first half but scored 13 points and added two assists.

Jayden Leverett led all scorers with 15 points, while Ace Glass had 10 for the Commodores. Freshman Ant Brown had nine points and eight assists. Elijah Gertrude led Virginia with 10 points.

In the second game, Charleston beat The Citadel 69-59. Box score stats were unavailable at the time of writing.

Our next chance at exhibition hoops is Friday, when Incarnate Word travels to East Lansing to play Michigan State.
