If you like defense, this is the game for you. If you're more of a pretty offense type of person, perhaps choose something else to do at 5pm. These teams were first and seventh in turnover rate defensively last year, while sitting 202nd and 349th in effective field goal percentage offense. Notably, McNeese fared better in both of those stats.
It's only one game against UAB, but McNeese seems to have leveled up offensively. Larry Johnson is now the clear top option, and he scored 31 points on just 21 shots. Mississippi State transfer Dellquan Warren had nine assists to one turnover, and Vanderbilt transfer Jaylon Dean-Vines added 17, all against a stout Andy Kennedy defense. If the Cowboys are scoring like that with their pressure defense and the big man size of Jerrell Colbert and Corey Chest, they could genuinely be better than last year's 28-6 team.
