The Protect College Sports Act is one step closer to becoming law.

Lawmakers initiated the first of a series of three procedural votes required to pass the bill. 74 Senators voted yes, 24 voted no, and two abstained. The second vote can take place as early as tomorrow, with Senate leaders anticipating a final vote sometime next week.

Yahoo's Ross Dellenger has all the latest on the bill and what it could mean for college sports.

Elsewhere, the NCAA earned another victory in court when the Ohio Court of Appeals denied a motion to vacate the stay in the five-for-five case. Players who remain ineligible because of this ruling include: Filip Borovicanin (Xavier), MJ Collins (Cincinnati), Javon Bennett (Gonzaga) and Keyshawn Hall (St. John’s).
