The first top-15 recruit in the class of 2027 is off the board.

NaVorro Bowman Jr. announced his commitment to UConn on Thursday. He was scheduled to visit Texas, Illinois and Arizona later this month, but opted to shut things down and commit to the Huskies after his visit last weekend.

Bowman Jr. averaged 20.5 points, 3.8 rebounds and 3.6 assists on the EYBL circuit this summer with Team Why Not. He also played on the Team USA U17 team that won a gold medal in Turkey.

247Sports' Adam Finkelstein says, "While Bowman is already physical and functionally strong, with early definition and long arms (6-foot-7-plus wingspan), there’s a lot more room for his frame to keep filling out, especially considering he’s young for his grade (won’t turn 18 until June of his senior year) and that his father played 8 years in the NFL at a listed 240 pounds. He brings a similar grit to the defensive end as well and is excellent laterally. He’s aggressive, physical, able to absorb contact, and willing to sit down and guard."

Bowman Jr. is the son of former NFL great NaVorro Bowman.

In other 2027 news, top prospects Adan Diggs and CJ Rosser cut their lists down to seven schools.
