It turns out the Mark Mitchell saga isn't quite over yet.

In another unprecedented turn of events, Mitchell is returning to Missouri after previously committing to Kentucky ten days ago.

The decision stems from the SEC's policy prohibiting intra-conference transfers outside of the regular transfer portal window. Facing class enrollment deadlines, Mitchell chose the safer route and returned to Mizzou. Mitchell still needs to win his lawsuit to be eligible to play, but overcoming that and a staunch SEC mandate wasn't worth the risk.

With Mitchell in the fold, Missouri has the looks of a top-15 team and SEC title contender (read our pre-Mitchell add preview). The Tigers brought in a transfer class that includes Bryson Tiller (Kansas), Jaylen Carey (Tennessee), Jamier Jones (Providence), and Kennard Davis Jr. (BYU). Dennis Gates also has two highly touted freshmen, Jason Crowe Jr. and Toni Bryant, giving Missouri even more high-upside talent and athleticism.

As for Kentucky, losing Mitchell is a huge blow, especially given the lack of available (and eligible) talent. Even without Mitchell, the Wildcats are still a top-20 team in our estimation, but losing him could limit the ceiling for Mark Pope's squad.
