We got our first look at the next iteration of the Purdue Boilermakers this weekend, as Matt Painter's crew played the first two games of a four-game stint in Vancouver, Canada.

It's the first time since 2021 that the Boilers played without Zach Edey or Braden Smith on the roster, signaling another proverbial changing of the guard in West Lafayette.

Purdue won their first game against Vancouver Selects, 102-63. Gicarri Harris and Antoine West, Jr. each had 20 points. Freshmen Luke Ertel and Jacob Webber both had 11 points.

In their second game, the Boilermakers beat Trinity Western, 82-66.

Daniel Jacobsen led the team with 14 points. Antoine West Jr. had 13 points, four rebounds and three steals. Purdue hit 14 threes and racked up 23 assists in the win.

As always, it's prudent to take foreign tour results with a grain of salt. Coaches are typically trying lineup combinations and substitution patterns that you wouldn't normally expect in a regular season game. The one major takeaway, though? Purdue is closer to reloading than rebuilding in Matt Painter's 22nd season.
