The NCAA's motion to stay the preliminary injunction in Colorado was denied on Monday night.

So what does this mean for athletes seeking a fifth season?

Materially, the decision doesn't change anything yet. Athletes who were granted a fifth year through this injunction are still technically eligible to play and still cannot technically enter the transfer portal.

The legal battle is not over, though, as the case moves to the 10th Circuit court. The NCAA's appeal to overturn the injunction is still pending, and there is no clear timeline for a decision.

Meanwhile, another lawsuit was filed in South Carolina by 17 football and men's basketball athletes. Some notable names include Miami's Malik Reneau and South Carolina's Mike Sharavjamts. They are seeking a similar ruling as the athletes who filed and won their cases in Ohio and Tennessee.

As a reminder, the college basketball season tips off in just 82 days.
