It looks like we're going to wait at least another month for a resolution on the Protect College Sports Act.
The deadline to vote on the bill came and went Friday afternoon, after several lawmakers introduced amendments and other procedural roadblocks delaying the vote. Congress returns from its recess on September 14, with proceedings expected to pick up again that week.
Senators Ted Cruz and Eric Scmitt released a statement to Yahoo Sports following the deadline:
"The Protect College Sports Act continues to show great momentum," the statement said. "Sens. Cruz and Schmitt have worked tirelessly with the support of nearly every conference in the country, HBCUs and the Olympic sports committee. It's clear that this bill is the only way to save college sports and women's sports. With the strong support of President Trump, we look forward to him signing the bill on [ESPN] College GameDay in the fall."

It was a busy weekend for commitments of both the high school and transfer portal variety.
Texas Tech is taking full advantage of the 5-in-5 rulings with the return of Darrion Williams. Williams is reuniting with the Red Raiders after an up-and-down season at NC State. He joins Donovan Atwell and Jamichael Stillwell as fifth-year reinforcements for Grant McCasland.
North Carolina bolstered its frontcourt depth with the addition of South Dakota transfer Cameron Fens. The 7'0" center averaged 14.4 points, 8.7 rebounds, and 1.5 blocks last season for the Coyotes.
Miami (OH) announced Antoine Woolfolk will return for his fifth season. He averaged 9.8 points and 5.3 rebounds in 2025-26 to help the RedHawks to an undefeated regular season.
Duquesne guard Tarence Guinyard is also returning for his fifth season. Guinyard recently earned another year of eligibility through the lawsuit in Tennessee.
In the high school ranks, Georgia landed a commitment from four-star guard Justin Wise. Wise picked the Bulldogs over Texas, Vanderbilt, Miami, Tennessee and Clemson. The Georgia native is the first commitment for Mike White in 2027.
Marquette landed a commitment from 2027 four-star guard Marlon Martinez. Martinez recently visited the Golden Eagles and becomes the first commit of the cycle for Shaka Smart.
On the foreign tour front, there was plenty of action over the weekend.
Auburn won one and lost one in Greece. The Tigers had several players not playing due to injury or waiting for NCAA clearance.
South Carolina won their opening game in the Bahamas.
Baylor posted six minutes of highlights from their trip to Montreal.
