UMass vs. Boston College (-5)

Strong performances from both Pilgrim State schools in their openers. UMass went to Troy in the MAC/Sun Belt Challenge and came away with a comfortable win, while the Eagles dominated Wagner in Luke Murray’s coaching debut.
Murray is the major story here, as he brings is brand of meticulously executed offense to Chestnut Hill. That was the name of the game against Wagner, as it was slower-tempo game where the Eagles played through jumbo point guard Money Williams and Slovenian wing Zak Smrekar. The best Murray offenses have an interior threat sealing off for easy post buckets, and Brandon Benjamin flashed the ability to do that in the opener.
The Minutemen will try to speed things up, using defensive pressure Danny Carbuccia and Jordan Clayton on the ball, as this game likely goes much better for UMass if they can force the issue. BC is nowhere near a finished product in Murray’s image, especially without wing Jacob Furphy (followed him from UConn) out for a few weeks, but you do not want to try and out-execute a Murray squad.
