As Travis Perry walks through the propped-open door and advances towards his seat along the sideline, he knows the deal. He knows that he likely won’t be unapproached for long.
Perry is in this Kentucky gym to watch his younger brother’s AAU game, but he knows that he's the draw to a portion of the crowd.
The idea that Perry will get around this gym uninterrupted is futile. He knows better than to believe that. The state of Kentucky’s love story with him is written too beautifully for that to be the case.
“Whenever he’s walking into a basketball gym in Kentucky, he’s signing autographs,” Perry’s dad, Ryan, said. “Wherever he is, he’s taking pictures.”
For as long as Perry lives, he will be a bluegrass basketball legend.
