A pair of college basketball veterans were granted another year of eligibility on Tuesday.

Former Kansas and St. Bonaventure star Melvin Council Jr. received a preliminary injunction from a New York court, making him eligible for the upcoming season (for now). Council spent last year with the Jayhawks, quickly becoming a fan favorite and the team's go-to guy whenever Darryn Peterson wasn't on the floor.

In a statement, Bill Self said, "Like we were with Tre, we’re happy for Melvin and today’s outcome. We’ll continue to learn more about his immediate next steps and be in touch with him and his family."

The other beneficiary of a legal ruling was Florida's Denzel Aberdeen. A Florida circuit court judge granted Aberdeen a temporary injunction against the NCAA, paving the way for him to play for the Gators this season.

Aberdeen returned to Gainesville (MARFO!) after one season at Kentucky, where he was the Wildcats' second-leading scorer and played a high-usage role.

With just 32 days left until the season opener, several players are still left in eligibility limbo. Many lawsuits across the country remain active and could change a team's trajectory with one legal decision.
