AJ Williams, the No. 1 overall prospect in the class of 2028, is reclassifying to the class of 2027.
The 6'7" shooting guard from Eagles Landing Christian Academy in Georgia averaged 20 points and eight rebounds at Peach Jam. Last summer, he won a gold medal with Team USA at the FIBA AmeriCup.
Williams is considering nine schools: Duke, North Carolina, Auburn, BYU, UConn, Georgia, Illinois, Georgia Tech and Mississippi State. He is expected to take a handful of visits this fall.
Williams is ranked anywhere between 4th and 7th in 2027, depending on which recruiting service you reference. Yann Kamagate is expected to take over the No. 1 spot in the class 0f 2028 rankings.
On the 5-in-5 front, we had a few small developments yesterday.
The Senate released its final draft of the Protect College Sports Act. While the chances of coming to a vote this week are still slim, Leader John Thune is hopeful it can reach the floor on Thursday.
A group of athletes, labor unions, antitrust advocates and civil rights organizations penned a letter against the Protect College Sports Act. Gordon Gee and Nick Saban penned a letter in support of the bill.
A new lawsuit was filed in West Virginia by Brennan Lorient and Javon Buchanan. Both are seeking a fifth year and are expected to return to the Mountaineers if granted.
The NCAA released a letter to its members stating it would suspend any coach for 50% of their season if they roster an ineligible player.
Quinnipiac transfer Amarri Monroe committed to Syracuse. Monroe's eligibility is tied to the Colorado lawsuit, which is currently being appealed by the NCAA.
A handful of teams hit the court on the foreign tours.
Cincinnati beat Victoria, 110-63.
Texas A&M scored 141 points in a win in the Bahamas.
Arkansas wrapped up their trip with a 105-48 win.
Grand Canyon won their first game in Vancouver, 83-65.
