It was an odd day in college basketball.

We'll start with the typical 5-in-5 lawsuit news.

Plaintiffs in the California case were granted a TRO, giving them immediate eligibility and the ability to enter the transfer portal without restriction. Some significant names on that list include Donovan Dent, Xaivian Lee, and Jaxon Kohler.

Elsewhere, former Saint Louis center Robbie Avila had his hearing in Philadelphia, with no decision made yet. A TRO was also granted in Oklahoma, giving eligibility to Parsa Fallah and a handful of others.

As far as commitments go, two newly eligible players came off the board.

Reed Bailey entered the portal and immediately committed to St. John's.

AJ Storr is heading to UNLV for his fifth school in five seasons.

With over 70 new players in the portal, expect another wave of commitments before the end of the week.

In the coaching ranks, we had two odd headlines to follow.

At Texas Southern, the school was prepared to hire Seton Hall assistant Corey Lowery as its next head coach, but a groundswell of support for interim Shyrone Chatman is complicating things.

Texas Southern players protested in support of Chatman yesterday, but the school is still scheduled to introduce its new basketball coach and athletic director this afternoon.

At UAB, head coach Andy Kennedy was named interim athletic director after the school parted ways with Mark Ingram. This is a move you normally see for football coaches, but Kennedy is one of UAB's most revered alums and has tremendous influence in their athletic department.

Overall, it was a very newsy day in mid-August, or as we like to call it, just another Tuesday.
