As this 2025-26 Badger team prepared for a trip south to face Illinois, confidence was brimming from within.
This University of Wisconsin program had endured five losses by January 3rd. Wisconsin was 1-2 in conference play, searching for answers and solutions. Purdue had just smacked them in Madison, 89-73.
A turning point came in the very next outing against UCLA, and the Badgers went 7-2 over the next nine games, with the only two defeats by two points (vs. USC) and by one point in OT (at Indiana). Confidence and trust were built among teammates during this stretch of games, which nearly resulted in a nine-game win streak.
This all brings us to this past week.
Nationally, Wisconsin continued to be seen as a non-factor at the top of the Big Ten. Projected as a 9-seed and mainly a blah tournament-caliber team, even though they won at Michigan during the turnaround.
The ball tipped in Champaign. For much of the game, the mighty Illini controlled the game and ultimately held a 12-point lead late. The game flow seemed well on course to fit the way Illinois had been mostly rolling of late.
Then, a Badger rally commenced. Wisconsin fought out of the hole in true Badger fashion. Badgers somehow achieved an OT game out of nowhere, thanks to an Austin Rapp triple.
In the extra session, the Badgers ultimately made the extra plays to secure a stunning road win (again). Rapp's 18 points off the bench, and the Nick Boyd (25) / John Blackwell (24) duo combined for 49. Wisconsin has continued to buy into the season-long process under HC Greg Gard's leadership, and you can see the growth in such a big win and the earlier heavyweight road win at Michigan.

— Big Ten Men's Basketball (@B1GMBBall) February 11, 2026
There was limited time to celebrate. As is life during the dog days of conference play. Badgers welcomed Michigan State to Madison on FOX's feature Friday night game.
The Badgers relished it. This was a sight to see. Nick Boyd continued to elevate his game to another level of greatness. Wisconsin dominated the Spartans from the opening tip. Wisconsin came out and nailed its first five triples of the night to get the Kohl Center jumping.
By the end, it was a 92-71 demolition. Two top-10 wins in the same week. This past week likely puts Wisconsin into the NCAA Tournament for good in 2026. The arrow is surging up, much like Wisconsin's progress up the Bracketology board at Bracketeer.Org, where Wisconsin is forecasted as a 7-seed today.

On the floor. Wisconsin now ranks #1 in the B1G in protecting the ball with the lowest turnover rate in conference games. Badgers are shooting over 80% from the line as a team, also best in the B1G.
TEXAS TECH
How do wins over Duke, Houston, and now at Arizona sound to you?
This Red Raider squad has certainly not been perfect throughout the season, but T-Tech has been a goliath killer. That reputation was emboldened further, given the impressive fortitude shown in Tucson this past Saturday to earn a battle-tested OT win against one of the nation's elites. The Red Raiders are the only squad to earn a win in Tucson. How it went down:
Arizona star Koa Peat went down with an injury early in the first half and participated for just 11 minutes. A detrimental moment for the Cats. Despite this, Arizona remains a well-loaded squad with front-court talent. However, Peat's leadership and resolve shown earlier in the season are key pillars for the Cats in tight matchups. He was missed, but that is not Texas Tech's issue.
This Red Raider bunch is on a mission. They are savvy enough to smell blood and exploit opportunities. Ultimate competitors. JT Toppin exposed Arizona's weakened frontline by finishing with 31 points and 13 boards. However, it was Donovan Atwell who caught a pass from Toppin to deliver the deciding blow from downtown.
"I knew he was going to be over there," JT Toppin said. "We work on that every day."
Speaking of Atwell, he was a real spark in the blowout victory over Colorado earlier in the week. Red Raiders handled the Buffaloes in a 34-point win and Atwell poured in 20 points. The result allowed the Red Raiders to breathe easy and put a little extra focus on Arizona.
An updated look at the Texas Tech team sheet, which positions the Red Raiders as a 3-seed in Bracketeer's latest bracket.

DETROIT MERCY
The work that HC Mark Montgomery and staff are doing this conference season in Motown is substantial. This program is in the midst of a multi-year renovation project. The Titans raised money by getting paid to play Notre Dame, UIC, Michigan State. DePaul and others. A road win at Niagara was the program's lone non-conference win vs. a D1 opponent. The battle scars, organic development, and situational lessons learned in those games have helped Detroit Mercy compete in the Horizon League, despite rougher KenPom/Torvik ranks.
Entering this past week, UDM was 7-7 in league play and had a golden opportunity to avenge a two-point home loss against league-leading Wright State. The program had lost seven straight against the Raiders, and Montgomery said, "We've been taking it on the chin every time we play Wright State."
Thanks to a late "double-stagger curl-curl" coming out of a T.O., well-designed, I might add, the ball landed with Tyler Spratt. Spratt's strong take to the cup and finish helped put Detroit Mercy up for good.
Legend Geeter's rebounding and offensive contributions were also critical in the road upset. Ryan Kalambay received a lot of praise for his big blocked shot down the stretch.
The Titans remembered they still needed to keep winning as Youngstown State came to town on Sunday. When the game was in the balance, the Titans raced out to a 15-point lead with around seven minutes remaining. A very impressive display as Detroit Mercy eventually did secure a 76-70 win to sweep the series against the Penguins. Six different Titans finished in double-figured and the team was deliberate with the basketball, only turning it over seven times in the game.
This Titans team is suddenly 9-7 in Horizon League play. The Horizon Tournament provides the Top Five teams with home games and a direct path to Indianapolis with one win. Currently, the Titans would be the six-seed but are within a couple of games of first place, unbelievably. None of this would be possible without the season-defining week they just put together. Remember The Titans.
MIAMI
"It’s time for us to put our stamp on the season.”
Those were the final words Miami HC Jai Lucas told his team before taking the court against North Carolina.
The game became a basket-trading fest with the Canes holding a slight three-point edge by Halftime. It wasn't until the third and fourth segments of the second half that Miami eventually started to separate. Malik Reneau was key in many moments, collecting three steals. He helped force the Tar Heels into a few costly mistakes, creating some margin. With free throws at the end, the Canes had their brand-name resume win in hand over UNC, 75-66.

The Hurricanes had stubbed their toe in home losses to Florida State and Cal. This win began to heal that resume, and more importantly reinstall confidence in this group, who are nearly all new to the program this season.
A trip to Raleigh offered even more opportunity to the rising Canes. Miami was still search of a road win against a tournament-level team. Despite demonstrating excellent road composure at Wake Forest, Notre Dame, Ole Miss, and Syracuse – none of the teams in there are sniffing the projected field at the moment. This was a chance to build on the cluster of wins and go after one of the ACC's most talented squads in a hostile road environment at N.C. State.
The first half slightly slipped away late in the half, and Miami found themselves down by five at the break. Wolfpack hit a three-pointer out of the half to extend their lead to eight before the Hurricanes went on an 11-3 run to tie the game at 48-48. Tre Donaldson's jumper and a Reneau lay-in allowed Miami to take its first lead of the second half, 58-56.
The flow continued to be frenetic and unpredictable. Following a flagrant foul on Darrion Williams, Donaldson hit both free throws to push the lead to 69-65 before suddenly NC State went on an 11-0 run to take a 76-69 advantage. The game seemed like it was over. Barely over a minute to go, and then this transpired:
An improbable Miami road win. One that drastically shifts the direction of this resume. Miami was a bubble team to begin the week, and now they passed over 10 teams on the Bracketology Big Board in a single week, thanks to these two wins and some help across the nation.

UNC WILMINGTON
The program that gave Texas Tech nightmares last March is back at it again. In a deeply complex CAA and on a week that saw a team named the Seahawks win the Super Bowl, these Seahawks cleared up some important questions.
Who is the CAA's best? We can categorically say UNCW for the first time.
CAA trends and overall team index strength have leaned towards the Seahawks for the majority of the preseason and the actual season. A less-than-challenging non-conference schedule, plus a home loss to the MEAC's Howard, left analysts wondering, however.
Any concerns should now be a thing of the past. UNCW faced three games in a single week and passed all three tests.
It started in Charleston with a road trip to the rival, the Cougars. By Halftime, UNCW was impressively in charge with a 10-point lead. Patrick Wessler continues to be a matchup that many in the CAA cannot contend with. He finished with a 15 and 10 double-double, and the Seahawks only had five turnovers on the road. Folks, that is winning basketball.
As Coach Takayo Siddle points out during the Charleston celebration video above, focus was required to get through the rest of the week. Next was Elon. The Phoenix have an efficient offense, yet UNCW held them to 54 points in a 65-54 stymie.
Then Hofstra came to town, riding some momentum. The Pride had control of the game for a bit during the second half until the Seahawks made a final charge that overwhelmed Hofstra. A 26-15 finish to the game was impressive. UNCW had itself a perfect 3-0 week with this 70-66 comeback win. The most impressive was arguably that these games played out in three different ways, and UNCW found ways to win all three. A sign of a really good team is being able to win in a variety of ways. It is clear to me that UNC Wilmington is that team in the CAA.
STRONGLY CONSIDERED FOR AWARDS
TCU - Horned Frogs seized the moment this week by getting past Iowa State on their home floor. This squad had near wins on the same floor against Michigan and Notre Dame. Both losses hurt for very different reasons. TCU has been the ultimate inconsistent rollercoaster ride, but against the Cyclones, they demonstrated an organized plan defensively and got by with a 62-55 win. The question became, can they go get a bubblish road win at Oklahoma State? Jayden Pierce said heck yes! He knocked down four key treys; the Frogs had control for most of the game, but a late Pokes' surge sent this one into OT. The Frogs were a step quicker and won 50/50 balls to gain an edge late. TCU defended the final Cowboys play perfectly, leaving OSU's Jaylen Curry to throw up a desperation shot at the buzzer that was off. Now, TCU and the world's most interesting resume are in the projected field. What a week for these guys, and they'll need to keep winning.

SAMFORD - Since the calendar turned to February, the Bulldogs also turned a page into higher performing results. The Bulldogs are now 5-0 this month and just beat two of the top SoCon contenders. Most importantly, a nationally televised OT win at East Tennessee State to send a message to the league. Earlier in the week, it was a 97-point outburst in a convincing win over Wofford. Hot starts have been a Samford theme, and that continued last week as they jumped out to a 23-10 lead early on at ETSU. Dylan Faulkner has been unleashed lately, he had his 10th double-double of the season in Johnson City, going for 24 and 10. Jadin Booth continues to be a SoCon rockstar as well, averaging 22 points in the two wins. After a sluggish first three months of the season, the great Lenny Acuff has this team 8-6 in conference play now. A clear contender to take the automatic bid in Asheville.
Forget Jadin Booth—there’s a new name in town. 🏀
— Richmond Weaver (@richmondweaver) February 12, 2026
Leading @SoConSports in scoring and the NATION in 3-pointers made/game, it’s officially time to call him JADIN BUCKETS. 🎯@jallday__2 continues to light it up for @SamfordMBB.🔥 pic.twitter.com/zEGueW5K5k
CAL POLY - The Mustangs have been a thorn to the league ever since hiring brilliant HC Mike DeGeorge and his fast-paced scoring in bunches system. This week was the epitome of that reputation. Beating both UC Irvine and UC Santa Barbara on nights that would have put either of them in 1st in the Big West Conference standings. The win over UCI was possible because of the rebounding of Cayden Ward and Austin Goode, who had 10 each. UCI is such a force in the paint, but Cal Poly was committed and outrebounded the Anteaters, 51-40. CP was really locked in that night. It carried over to the game plan against UCSB. Trailing by seven at Halftime, the Mustangs opened the second half with a massive burst and a 29-14 run in the first 10 minutes of the half to flip the game. An 89-79 win can be traced back to that stretch. Once again, a 35-31 rebounding edge was important. And San Luis Obispo's favorite, Peter Bandelj, went for 18 and hit all six of his foul shots. Cal Poly has ascended to 7-8 in the league. These major wins have likely secured their spot in Henderson for the conference tournament. Cal Poly will look to surprise at the BWT once again this season.

UTAH TECH - What a week it was in Burns Arena. These Trailblazers are once again the WAC team of the week for Basket Under Review. You can argue that this was the most meaningful week for the program since joining D1. Utah Tech knocked off the two big dogs of the WAC in Utah Valley and California Baptist. Balanced scoring and team defense were the formula against UVU. The win over CBU was headlined by Noah Balanga's 18-point, eight-rebound night. UT held the Lancers to a grotesque 8-for-35 from from 2-Pt land! Good for 23%, and a frustrating Lancer experience. Utah Tech has entered a tie in the loss column with both CBU and UVU. They have now entered the sweepstakes for the WAC's 1-seed, especially considering Utah Valley's eligibility for the tournament concerns.

UNLV - The Rebels got the week going by holding serve, 82-75, against struggling San Jose State. A Friday feature trip to previously-hot Boise State was next on tap. Well, the Rebels appeared to be overwhelmed. Trailing 32-9, this team looked like they had no answers for the Broncos. Dra Gibbs-Lawhorn eventually turned magnificent, playing all 45 minutes while scoring a career-high 36 points on 13-of-22 shooting. Tyrin Jones added 12 points and four blocks in an unbelievable road victory. UNLV has overcome a double-digit deficit in a hostile environment, having also rallied past Utah State after trailing by as many as 14 in that one. Rebels have one of the most absurd sets of results you can find this year, but these league wins are impressive. A ceiling that is rising, UNLV is suddenly 8-6 in the top half of the MW standings.

HONORABLE MENTION: REMAINING CONFERENCE AWARDS
PATRIOT LEAGUE: NAVY - It was one of the more anticipated Patriot League showdowns in a while. An ultra-consistent and well-coached Navy team had achieved near all levels of consistent success this season, entering the weekend. The one thing missing? A game against Colgate. We got treated to round one in the series on Saturday, and what a treat it was. Navy entered the day on a 13-game losing streak to traditionally mighty Colgate. This Navy team is different. The return of star player Austin Benigni this season and guys like Aidan Kehoe and Jordan Pennick enhanced continuity for the Midshipmen, in turn making life difficult on opponents. After Navy squandered a late 77-73 lead with less than a minute to go, the showdown went to OT. Down the stretch in OT, Navy's defense stepped up for multiple stops. That was the difference in a memorable 84-80 road win. Earlier in the week, Navy had its way with Bucknell, 76-60. A double road win week for the Mids. Navy is breaking records this season, now 13-1 in the Patriot League with only four regular-season games to go. They will be the 1-seed in the PL Tournament and play nothing but tourney home games in Annapolis.

SUMMIT LEAGUE: OMAHA - The Mavs have been fighting to regain the 2025 trash can magic, but the roster attrition monster showed its ugly head in too many games this season, demonstrating the Mavs step backwards in continuity. Staying the course has its rewards; however, Omaha just had probably its best week. Two talented teams visited Baxter Arena, and the Mavs took both down – St. Thomas and previously surging Denver. Valentino Simon, a native of the Bahamas, worked his tail off to pull in six offensive boards and 10 total rebounds vs. St. Thomas. In the Denver win, he dished out six assists and blocked a couple of shots. At 6-6, 200 pounds, Simon is this team's Swiss Army Knife. Impressive stuff from the JUCO transfer from Hutchinson, better known as "Hutch."
MISSOURI VALLEY: BRADLEY - Braves solved the Belmont mystery! It took overtime, but Bradley became the only team since January 4th to beat the Bruins. Jaquan Johnson certainly enjoyed the looks he was getting from deep, going six-for-10 en route to a 31-point showing. Alex Huibregtse has been a steady player all year, very underrated, and also connected on six treys. The Braves hit 17 as a squad, a deliberate part of the formula against Belmont's defensive construct. The quality play did not stop there, the Braves went to in-state foe Southern Illinois on Sunday and proceeded to hand the Salukis a 70-60 defeat. A far different game plan in the Saluki win as this game was more defensive-focused, holding SIU to 0-for-15 shooting from deep. Yikes. Johnson added 24 points, but mostly from inside the arc in this one. The Braves are 11-5 and are close to securing a much-needed Arch Madness bye.
WCC: GONZAGA - Graham Ike told me after the win at Santa Clara, "The season is like a 12-round boxing match. The loss to Portland was a minor setback in the final result of the fight." Ike, Tyon Grant-Foster, and Adam Miller were sound in a massive victory that is a high Quad 1 win for the moment. To Ike's point, Gonzaga has been really sharp since the Portland setback, even though Braden Huff is not near a return. The Bulldogs blew out neighboring Washington State earlier in the week by 30. Graham Ike had 20+ in both wins and was an unstoppable rebounder against the Broncos, pulling down 15.

Part 2: I ask Graham Ike about the chip on his shoulder since the Portland loss. He compares the season to a 12-round Boxing match:#Gonzaga pic.twitter.com/FRIB5iPhHf
SUN BELT: SOUTH ALABAMA - These Jags did the most improbable task imaginable. The old "fire up a three and pray to get fouled" tactic. And it worked! The USA Jags were dead in this game, the late surge made it quasi interesting, and then the play was unbelievable by Chaze Harris and the good fortune of the officials correctly calling a foul. A perfect storm that stunned all of Jonesboro (have a look at the video here). A loss became a win, and with help, South Alabama was in first place due to the result as of Sunday night.
This is unbelievable. A 4-Point play in desperation sent this game into OT. South Alabama trailed by as many as 18 points.
— Rocco Miller (@RoccoMiller8) February 14, 2026
South Alabama just sealed the deal in OT, 92-88. An improbable victory to keep pace in the Sun Belt race. Gutting for the Red Wolves. https://t.co/cv6hGz5k62
ATLANTIC-10: FORDHAM - Dejour Reaves committed one total turnover in the Rams pair of road wins at St. Joe's and at Rhode Island. A significant step in the rebuild for new HC Mike Magpayo. Reaves did it all against URI, generating five steals, snagging five boards, scoring 19 points, and dishing three assists. Magpayo had outstanding guard play at UC Riverside, and were getting hints of that lately with Fordham, who is now 5-8 in the Atlantic-10 and looking to avoid the pillow fight Tuesday of the A10 Tournament (bottom four teams).

BIG SKY: NORTHERN COLORADO - These Bears were far too talented and well-coached to be sitting near the bottom of the Big Sky standings at 1-7. Now, the Bears are feeling back to legitimate Big Sky Tournament contenders after ripping off six straight. Last week's wins were perhaps the most important. "NoCo" snapped the Portland State winning streak with an important 77-65 win to end the week soaring. Earlier last week, a blowout of improved Sacramento State helped maintain momentum. Quinn Denker is arguably the best passer in the conference and is also putting up big scoring totals. They have Brock Wisne going off certain nights. Very tough offense to stop.
SWAC: ALCORN STATE - The Braves started last week with a confidence-building trip to MVSU. Alcorn handled their business there and returned home to host Bethune-Cookman. BCU entered that game winners of eight in a row. Alcorn State entered with a 4-7 league record and was not posing as a major SWAC threat to win the postseason tournament. On this day, Alcorn made BCU's life difficult and frustrating, turning the Wildcats over 23 times. That type of inconsistent game flow set the stage for a low-scoring opportunistic upset. How it ended:
Alcorn State takes down Bethune-Cookman, 57-55, handing them their second conference loss of the season and ends their win-streak.
— Liv Antilla (@livforhoops) February 14, 2026
Go ahead BLOB basket by Shane Lancaster boosts the Braves to victory.
Huge, and I mean HUGE, win for the Braves. pic.twitter.com/GPb5X4jApB
IVY LEAGUE: YALE - Dartmouth had no answers for Yale on Friday night, particularly in the second half, as Yale rolled to an 83-70 win at Leede Arena. Between that result and Harvard earning a win over a very desperate Brown team (nearing elimination), the stage was set for the massive rematch between Yale and Harvard. This game would live up to all of the anticipation and more Saturday night. Yale star Nick Townsend left the game with 18:54 remaining after getting hit in the face. Townsend left with the Yale trainer and never returned. Completely throwing this matchup for a loop. Yale trailed 34-30 at the break. The Bulldogs never led until Riley Fox hit a jumper midway through the second half to put Yale ahead, 50-49. It was a heavyweight fight from there. Blow for blow, the two sides kept pace. Harvard sophomore Tey Barbour connected on a three-pointer to afford Harvard a 75-74 lead late. After a timeout, Yale worked the ball around for a last shot, and the refs called Barbour for a foul on Isaac Celiscar with :05 left. He drained both. Harvard couldn't get a shot off before the final horn. Impeccable ballgame, and it took everything for Yale to reclaim first place. Great preview for Ivy Madness.

SEC: TEXAS - Many in Bracket Land prefer to continue compared this new and improved Longhorn team to last year's unnecessary NCAAT inclusion team who lost seven home games and did not have an elite win. I am not with them, I actually like this version of Texas. Particularly lately. The Horns rested up last week, getting a mid-week bye. They arrived in Columbia, MO completely locked and loaded. By the end the Horns had their fourth win in a row, 85-68, over the Tigers. This team is solidly in the field and above the bubble at this point. Intrigued to see where this goes from here.
CONFERENCE USA: DELAWARE - This travel partnership between FIU, based in Miami, and Missouri State, based in Springfield, MO, has to be the most insane travel partners anywhere in America! Maybe even in D1 history? Well, Delaware was the latest team to take on the challenge. CUSA's last place team had no fair, going into the Ocean Center and beating the Golden Panthers, 68-66. Justyn Fernandez led with 21. Then, over the weekend, yes in Springfield! The Blue Hens got 23 more points from Mr. Fernandez and Tyler Houser had a key 21 points and nine rebounds. The Hens stunned the Bears, 76-67, in an unpredictable road sweep spanning 1,337 miles!

NEC: CENTRAL CONNECTICUT - Darin Smith Jr. was a prime breakout candidate for CCSU, and he is proving why. The sophomore has averaged 20.4 PPG, 5.3 RPG, and 1.1 APG while shooting 47.6% from the field. In CCSU’s most recent game, an 81-76 win against the University of New Haven on Thursday, Smith dropped a career-high 40 points in the team’s victory, basically scoring half of the team’s points. That same New Haven team upset LIU later in the week. Roddy Jones is a young prospect who shined against the Chargers, adding 12 points off the bench. CCSU capped off a perfect week by beating FDU, 63-57. Blue Devils also swept the NEC honors for the week.

MAC: BOWLING GREEN - The week began with a 68-52 suffocating win over Northern Illinois. BGSU produced 13 steals in that one. The Battle for I-75 was next on the schedule, a major MAC rivalry. After starting behind, the Falcons turned up the intensity midway through the first half and really got rolling in the second half. Sam Towns stuffed the stat sheet, had 16 points as well. The Falcons getting two wins makes them 7-6 and inching closer to clinching a MAC Tournament spot (Top eight make it to Cleveland).
BIG EAST: SETON HALL - With a home win over Providence and a road win at Butler last week, these Pirates are staying in the fight. As down as the league may be, Seton Hall doesn't have the talent level to just walk in and dominate. The Hall fights for every inch, making its 18-8, 8-7 records impressive. It gives the Pirates a path to an at-large, but they have to keep winning elimination-type games against the Big East's mediocre teams.
MAAC: MERRIMACK - Merrimack must have had the road Quinnipiac test circled. After all, the QU Bobcats are undisputedly the "Locker Room" team of the MAAC, rocking impressive physiques and were widely expected to win the league. Once again, the Warriors were not phased one bit. Sticking to its zone principles to frustrate opponents and generate just enough buckets to create separation is the name of the game for HC Joe Gallo. The rock fought their way past QU, 56-49. This all came after completely putting Marist's offense into a pretzel, 81-56, earlier in the week. Kevair Kennedy has been named both the MAAC Player of the Week and the MAAC Rookie of the Week. It’s a clean sweep for Kennedy and his first Player of the Week award this season, his fifth rookie honor.

BIG SOUTH: HIGH POINT - The Panthers have been cruising along in Big South action ever since the slip up loss to Winthrop. HPU now owns eight straight wins since that tough defeat. Last week the Panthers deposited two more road wins at USC Upstate and Gardner-Webb. Rob Martin raced past the Spartans for 27 points in a Spartanburg blitzing. Chase Johnston eclipsed the 400 career triples marker for his career.

SOUTHLAND: STEPHEN F. AUSTIN - The SFA train keeps rolling. This past Saturday featured the stiffest Lumberjack test since the day I visited Nacogdoches for the critical win over McNeese. This test came in the form of beating the sizzling hot Vaqueros of UTRGV. The Vaqueros had no answers for Keon Thompson. Thompson went off and had 32 points on 11 two-point buckets. He is a tough cover, and UTRGV had no answers for him. Earlier in the week, the Lumberjacks played a bit sluggishly, but managed to execute when it mattered in a 74-70 win over East Texas A&M. The Jacks have won 11 in a row. One of the best turnarounds in America, coming from new HC Matt Braeuer.
MEAC: COPPIN STATE - Eagles are stinging together wins lately. That is a testament to Larry Stewart's squad playing hard each time out despite a talent disparity in certain matchups. The Eagles stunned MEAC followers last week by winning at NC Central, which is firmly in the league title race, 58-56. The squad played great team defense, amassing nine total blocked shots as a unit.
AMERICA EAST: UMASS-LOWELL - The Junior trio of Angel Montas (24), Xavier Spencer (22), and Darrel Yepdo (22) dazzled in the 88-69 convincing win over Bryant. UML is 6-5 in the America East now and in control as it seeks the final home game slot for the AE Tournament. Riverhawks would be the 4-seed if it started today. They have been in a few ruts this season as a squad, and are now playing much better.
OVC: MOREHEAD STATE - The Eagles faced Tennessee Tech for the final time as OVC members (TTU is off to the SoCon next season). MSU led by as many as 20 in the second half before things tightened up late. Jon Carroll is a JUCO product from North Central Missouri JUCO. Carroll was too much for the Golden Eagles ultimately. Carroll had his sixth double-double of the year with 22 points (tying his career high) and 10 rebounds. Carroll won Newcomer of the Week and is a strong contender for Newcomer of the Year in the OVC. The Eagles then hosted 1st-Place Tennessee State in a feature matchup. Once again, Carroll was productive with 18/9. It was Josiah Legree's 25 points off the bench, however, that made the biggest splash. A terrific sweep for Morehead State on the week. Now in position to make a push for the OVC's top two byes into the OVC Semifinals.
ASUN: AUSTIN PEAY - Collin Parker began his week with the highest-scoring game by a Governor in seven years, with his 39 points in addition to nine rebounds. Parker's 39-point explosion is the best by an Austin Peay Gov since Terry Taylor dropped 42 points back on February 16th, 2019. It goes down as the most points scored by any ASUN player all season long. Parker and the Govs achieved all of this while in Charlotte for a key clash at Queens. The win was critical for the ASUN race, which the Govs have control of. The Royals had no answers for Parker. Governors then picked on Bellarmine a bit as well, blowing out the Knights. Parker extended his 20-point scoring streak to a record six games by pouring in 22 points. Austin Peay is now a remarkable 13-1 in ASUN play.
