Alan Huss could’ve filled all 25 spots on a standard bingo card with things that he thought Greg McDermott might address when he opened his mouth on this February phone call. None of them would have broached the opportunity that McDermott was about to pitch.
It wasn’t out of the ordinary that McDermott and Huss would connect. After all, Huss has been fiercely loyal to McDermott since McDermott brought him back to his alma mater in 2017 after the New Mexico staff he was a part of was fired. Huss had a minimal role when he returned to Creighton--largely relating to recruiting and a bit of scouting report work--but he never forgot that McDermott took a chance on him and kept him in the coaching business.
In a similar way, Huss won’t ever forget this 2025 interaction.
