In our Champions Rewind series, we'll look at the seasons of past National Champions, breaking down both their offensive and defensive systems.

This week, we'll look at the 2017-18 Villanova Wildcats, their second title in three seasons.

Season Recap

After winning the title in 2016, Villanova was coming off a disappointing finish in March Madness. They went 28-3 in the regular season, won both Big East titles, and were a No. 1 seed in the tournament, but ultimately lost in the second round to Wisconsin.

Villanova had a core in those two years, but the Wildcats were losing three starters from that core in Josh Hart, Kris Jenkins, and Darryl Reynolds. Despite that, they still returned a lot of talent and production while adding a couple of impact freshmen.
