The very art and science of bracketology is trying to decipher what the Selection Committee will and won't do after a four-to-five day exercise of discussing, selecting, and ultimately seeding teams.

One precise thing that I've always valued is understanding the people in the room. There is year-over-year variance. There are more metric-based tools than ever displayed on team sheets.

Last year Martin Newton, and four of his fellow committee vets were tasked with bring SEVEN new committee members up to speed. As well as the addition of Torvik's rankings and the ever-popular WAB (Wins Above Bubble).

Mr. Newton will serve as the Vice Chair this coming March, and will be the Chairman in 2027, while also representing Samford and the SoCon. Who better to spend some time with than him? Nobody! We had fascinating discussions throughout the week, and I am grateful he was willing to dive deep with me on the process.

ENJOY!
